Warner Bros. in negotiations to acquire
the rights to Frank Miller and Geof Darrow's Eisner Award-winning graphic novel
Hard Boiled for Ben Wheatley ("Kill List") to direct and Tom
Hiddleston to star in.
According to Deadline, deals have not
yet been made, however they are proceeding and we should know more soon.
The three-issue graphic novel from
1990 centered on an insurance investigator and family man called Carl Seltz, who
discovers that in reality he is a homicidal cyborg tax collector known as
Nixon, and the last hope for his race to escape their programmed slavery.
The movie will be a
co-production between Solipsist Films ("Sin City: A Dame to Kill For"),
and Hollywood Gang ("300").
"Carl Seltz is a suburban
insurance investigator, a loving husband, and devoted father. Nixon is a
berserk, homicidal tax collector racking up mind-boggling body counts in a
diseased urban slaughterhouse. Unit Four is the ultimate robot killing machine
– and the last hope of the future’s enslaved mechanical servants. And they’re
all the same psychotic entity."
