On Tuesday, July 19,
Ryan Phillippe was set to make his debut as Bob
Lee Swagger, an expert marksman living in exile who is coaxed back into action
after learning of a plot to kill the president in a new action drama titled
Shooter. That is no longer the case.
In
the wake of the deaths of five police officers in Dallas by a sniper during a
protest march over the senseless deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando
Castille, USA Network has announced that out of respect for the victims and
their families they have delayed the show's premiere.
"In light of recent tragic events and out of
respect for the victims, their families and our viewers, we have decided to
postpone the premiere date for the upcoming USA Network series Shooter to
July 26."
Sadly, this is not the first time art and life came crashing together. The Last Ship, Mr. Robot, Castle, NCIS: Los Angeles, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Hannibal, and Supergirl are among the list of telvision shows that had their programming altered following similar incidents.
Shooter also stars Omar Epps, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Shantel VanSanten, Eddie McClintock, and Tembi Locke.
