Director
James Gunn has unveiled a new piece of concept art from the widely anticipated Guardians
of the Galaxy Vol. 2 featuring (from left to right) Drax the Destroyer (Dave
Bautista), Baby Groot (Vin Diesel), Yondu (Michael Rooker), Star-Lord (Chris
Pratt), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper), new addition Mantis (Pom Klementieff),
Nebula (Karen Gillan), and Gamora (Zoe Saldana).
The
image, illustrated by Andy Park, suggests that Yondu the space pirate and the villainess
Nebula are now part of the Guardians. Well, sort of…"Yondu for sure. With
Nebula, well, you never know what's up with that one," said Gunn shortly
after sharing the image.
As
for the half-Vietnamese half-German psychic superhero with ties to the Kree
Empire, "she has never really
experienced social interaction," said executive producer Jonathan Schwartz
of Mantis. "Everything she learns about dealing with people, she learns
from the Guardians of the Galaxy, which is a very weird group to
learn your social intricacies from."
Set to
the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians
of the Galaxy Vol. 2continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer
reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family
together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old
foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will
come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
Opening
in theaters on May 5, 2017, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 also stars Sylvester
Stallone, Kurt Russell, Tommy Flanagan, Nathan Fillion, Glenn Close, Chris
Sullivan, and Sean Gunn.

Did Karen Gillan have to shave her head again? What? No photos? Come on, nothing hotter than a bald sexy woman.
