Oscar and Golden Globe winning actress Geena Davis has
been cast in Fox's pilot for The Exorcist where she will play Angela Rance, a
proud woman weighed down by stress who does everything in her power to stay optimistic
and keep her faith as her family struggles. Angela "can't help but think
if perhaps her nightmares about a demon are a sign of what's wrong."
Davis joins fellow actors Alfonso Herrera (Sense8), Ben Daniels (Doom), Brianne Howey (Horrible
Bosses 2), Hannah Kasulka (The Fosters) and Kurt Egyiawan (Skyfall) in
the pilot for the supernatural drama. Herrera and Daniels are playing the lead
priests.
The Lazarus Effect, Fantastic Four (2015), and
upcoming Death Note screenwriter Jeremy Slater wrote the pilot for The
Exorcist, which Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will direct. Both
Slater and Wyatt will serve as executive producers.
On the big screen, Davis is known for starring in Beetlejuice,
Thelma & Louise, The Fly, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and The Accidental
Tourist, for which she won her Oscar. On TV, Davis had her own show titled The
Geena Davis Show, she headlined the short-lived but award winning drama
Commander in Chief, for which she won a Golden Globe, and Grey's Anatomy.
