It looks like
Sony hasn't given up on crossing the alien action-comedy Men in Black franchise
with the meta action-comedy Jump Street franchise.
According to
Variety, Sony is still moving forward with a 23 Jump Street and Men in Black
crossover and they have started negotiations with The Muppets and Flight of
Conchords director James Bobin to helm the project. Bobin, who recently
directed Alice Through The Looking Glass for Disney, replaces 21 and 22 Jump
Street directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who have become attached to the
upcoming Star Wars spinoff centered on a young Han Solo.
Channing
Tatum and Jonah Hill will reprise their roles as Jenko Schmidt, respectively.
The two actors are also producing the movie.
As for Men in
Black's Agents Jay and Kay, Sony executives have stated that Will Smith and
Tommy Lee Jones will not be reprising their roles as they hope to relaunch the
franchise with new faces.
Plot details
are being kept under lock and key, but it will be interesting to see how they
will combine both franchises.
