Machinima and Capcom are teaming once again for a new
live-action miniseries based on the game studio's flagship property, Street
Fighter.
Titled Street Fighter: Resurrection, the 5-episode
series will serve as a tie-in for Capcom's upcoming launch of the next
installment in the game series, Street Fighter V on February 16 for PS4 and PC.
Street Fighter: Resurrection is set ten years after
the events of Machinima's previous Street Fighter series, Assassin's Fist, and
follows Charlie Nash, who has returned from the dead and is targeting legendary
Street Fighter champions for unknown reasons. Ryu and Ken get involved and
become determined in finding out why.
Alain Moussi (stunt double on X-Men: DOFP, Warcraft,
Suicide Squad) will play Nash, and Mike Moh (Empire) and Christian Howard (stunt
performer on The Worlds End) reprise their roles from Assassin's Fist, Ryu and
Ken respectively.
Although shorter than its predecessor, Street Fighter:
Resurrection is expected to do well as Assassin's Fist, which managed to haul
17 million views across its 12-episodes run.
In addition to Moh and Howard, Resurrection also
reunites Assassin’s Fist’s writer and director Joey Ansah, as well as
producers Jacqueline Quella and Mark Wooding.
Street Fighter: Resurrection will be launch
exclusively on go90 in March of 2016.
