Warner Bros. has released the first couple of images
from David Yates' The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgard as the
chiseled titular character, Margot Robbie as his romantic interest Jane Porter, and
Christoph Waltz as Captain Rom, the villain, again.
The images focus on Skarsgard's wet Tarzan physique
and tease his steamy and damp relationship with Robbie's Jane.
Yates is best known for taking over the Harry Potter
franchise after Alfonso Cuaron's Prisoner of Azkaban, so on that level I expect
good things of The Legend Of Tarzan, however I'm more concerned with who Warner
Bros. tapped to adapt Edgar Rice Burroughs' legendary tale.
Stuart Beattie, Craig Brewer, John Collee, and Adam
Cozad share credit on the screenplay, and their credits go from Oscar to RAZZIE.
Brewer is best known for Hustle & Flow and Black Snake Moan, Collee for
Happy Feet and Master & Commander: The Far Side of The World, Cozard for
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and finally Brewer for the entirety of the Pirates
of the Caribbean franchise, Australia, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, and who
could forget I, Frankenstein. Do you see my problem?
Djimon Hounsou (Chief Mbonga), Samuel L. Jackson (George
Washington Williams), John Hurt, and Casper Crump (Captain Kerchover) fill out
the rest of the cast for The Legend of Tarzan, which swings by July 1 2016.
