Tom Cruise and Universal
Picture have entered negotiations for the actor to star in The Mummy, the first
movie the studio is planning to release as part of their Classic Movie Monsters
cinematic universe. Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are developing the shared
universe for Universal.
Kurztman is also producing and
directing The Mummy, which Jon Spaihts is writing. No plot details have been
made known, but the project is said to take place in present day.
According to Variety, it's not
likely that Cruise will produce the movie, but he is however expected to play a
significant part in its development.
The monsters, which beside The
Mummy include the Wolf Man, Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, the
Invisible Man, and more, will weave in and out of each other's movies before joining
in an Avengers-type film.
We recently found out that Angelina Jolie could be on her way to star in the Bride of Frankenstein, but details are
scarce and it's unclear if negotiations are happening or not.
