Ken Marino will be bringing
his comedic sensibility to ABC when Marvel's Agent Carter returns for its second
season in 2016.
According to Variety, Marino
has been cast as a mob boss called Joseph Manfredi, the "volatile leader
in the Maggia crime syndicate, who will help Peggy Carter's (Atwell)
adversaries further their agenda."
This will be a reunion for
Marino and the show's executive producers, whom worked with the actor on
Reaper.
"We’ve loved
working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on ‘Reaper,’ and we
were so happy he was available for this role," said Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas,
and Chris Dingess. "His range is incredible — he can go from comedy to romance to
drama with ease. Writing for him is easy, because he can do pretty much
anything. And he used to have a karaoke room in his house, which makes him even
more awesome."
Marvel's head of television
and fellow executive Jeph Loeb also added that, "at Marvel, even our
villains need a certain degree of charm as they make life difficult for our
heroes. Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him
even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding
supporting cast."
Along with Atwell and Marino, the
second season of Agent Carter also stars James
D’Arcy (Jarvis), Chad Michael Murray (Jack Thompson), Enver Gjokaj (Daniel
Sousa), Dominic Cooper (Howard Stark), Bridget Regan (Dottie Underwood),
Wynn Everett (Madame Masque), Lotte Verbeek (Ana Jarvis), Currie Graham (Calvin
Chadwick), and Reggie Austin (Jason Wilkes).
