As far as we
know only Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewbacca are returning to help a new breed of
heroes and villains develop their story in the J.J. Abrams galaxy far, far
away, but could another character from the original trilogy also be making a
return?
According to
Star Wars News Net, a foreign reader of their website claims that he knows
someone involving in the dubbing of the international release, and according to
him Yoda is also in the film.
I know
someone who works in the ****** media (dubbing) who assured me that there was
indeed a scene with Yoda in The Force Awakens.
I know
that information coming from a guy that knows a guy doesn't exactly sound
legit, and it should be considered as a rumor, but it wouldn't be at all
surprising that Master Yoda's Force ghost would appear in the film.
From what
we have heard so far, Luke has been in some sort of exile for the last few
decades, so couldn't it be possible for Luke to have continued to receive training
under Yoda's ghost tutelage? Maybe the Master even taught him how to retain his
own identity after death and become a Force spirit, which would give some credence
to the rumor that Luke will play an Obi-wan type role, and help the new heroes.
But there
is more.
In yet
another guy that knows a guy rumor, apparently a character with a Dark Side
inclination will switch sides.
I have a
friend who’s an actor. He was approached by his agency and took part in a
casting for dubbing of The Force Awakens.
Obviously, he had to sign an NDA. The scene was blacked out and he could only
see the dubbed character’s head. He was trying to get a dark character’s part.
He only saw a brief scene (again,
it was a casting) but from what he saw, he told me that the dark character
might, for the first time ever, switch sides to join the light side. He said
that it might happen, but the intent wasn’t entirely clear. I’m sure they do
those castings in the most confusing ways.
From
what we have been able to stitch together from the trailers and interviews, we
know that John Boyega's character defects the First Order and joins the Resistance,
so could this be him, or is the rumor referring to another character altogether?
I
have a hard time believing that Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who seems to be the
main antagonist in the film will switch sides, unless he pulls a Darth Vader,
who he apparently admires.
What
do you think?
Star
Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
