After successfully rebooting the
convoluted X-Men franchise with X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bryan Singer expects
to wrap it up and start fresh with Apocalypse, where old characters will give
way to newer ones.
Speaking to
Entertainment Weekly, Singer revealed that X-Men: Apocalypse "is kind of a
conclusion of six X-Men films, yet a potential rebirth of younger, newer
characters." Namely Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner),
Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Jubilee (Lana Condor),
and Angel (Ben Hardy).
"This is the true birth of the
X-Men," said Singer before adding, "This is how it happens."
Opening on May 27, 2016,
X-Men: Apocalypse stars James McAvoy
(Professor X), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer
Lawrence (Mystique), Rose Byrne (Moira MacTaggert), Oscar Isaac
(Apocalypse), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Kodi
Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler), Lana Condor (Jubilee), Ben Hardy (Angel), Olivia
Munn (Psylocke), and Lucas Till (Havok).
