Marvel's first incursion into the occult is
looking better than ever with the addition of Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor to director
Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange. According to Deadline, the previously rumored Ejiofor will play
Baron Mordo, an enemy of Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and former
student of the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton hopefully).
However, the news outlet
cautions that though "he’s an enemy in the
comics, don’t look for him to be necessarily a completely villainous character.
Rather, he’s an amalgamation of characters culled from Doctor
Strange‘s mythology."
Set to
open on November 4, 2016, Doctor Strange follows the fall and raise of brilliant
and arrogant neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange, who after a car accident loses
the hand dexterity that made him famous. Now desperate for a miracle, Stephen
travels to the Himalayas where he meets the Ancient One, a powerful mystic who
opens Stephen's mind to the impossible, magic.
