Best known for his roles in The Mentalist, and in
Turn, Welsh actor Owain Yeoman first dip into the superhero pool will be as Vartox
in the upcoming Supergirl live-action series airing at CBS this coming Fall.
Yahoo! News recently caught up with the actor to
discuss his role as Benedict Arnold in Turn, but didn't fail to try and pry
some information about Supergirl, and whether his character might pass the
pilot stage and eventually return.
"At the moment, it’s something I can’t really
talk about an awful lot," the actor said. "I’ve just signed on for
the pilot. I guess there’s always the potential that a character could come
back. I’m contractually signed on with Turn,
so obviously that’s my home right now. I will say the scope of the Supergirl pilot was incredible. I’ve personally
never been involved in something with such a huge production value and scope.
Glen [Winter], the director, is doing incredible things with it, and I really
feel like people who are fans of not just the Supergirl world, but the whole Superman franchise, will be really, really
thrilled with this. It genuinely felt like we were shooting a movie."
The CBS pilot centers on Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl
(Benoist), who after escaping Krypton and finding a home here on Earth with the
Danvers family, must use her powers for the benefit of all humankind.
Supergirl also stars Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant),
David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), Mehcad Brooks (Jimmy Olsen), Chyler Leigh (Alex
Danvers), Melina Weissman (young Kara), Jeremy Jordan (Toyman), Laura Benanti
(Alura Zor-El), Faran Tahir (The Commander), and Helen Slater and Dean Cain in
unspecified roles.
