After just learning
that Warner Bros. had taken a step back in their adaptation of Wonder Woman by
letting director Michelle MacLaren go, we now learn that Marvel has made some
progress in their first female superhero standalone.
According to The Hollywood
Reporter, screenwriters Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve are nearing a deal with
the studio to pen the script for Captain Marvel. It seems that Marvel Studios
President Kevin Feige liked both writers approach to the character, and wants them
to work together on the script.
The Wrap also adds
that Marvel is currently seeking a female director to helm the property. Michelle
MacLaren is available Mr. Feige!
Nicole Perlman is
best known for penning the initial Guardians of the Galaxy draft, and her
current work on Marvel Comics' Gamora books, while Meg LeFauve produced The Dangerous
Lives of Altar Boys, and co-wrote the screenplay for Disney's upcoming
animation Inside Out.
