Due to his nature, a
Deadpool standalone film will always be a tricky thing to pull off, however after
the dismal performance of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the chances of it ever
being made, let alone having Ryan Reynolds starring in it seemed next to
impossible. Nonetheless, fans persisted and last July their love for the
character was rewarded when some test footage featuring Deadpool leaked online
leading many to believe that a confirmation was soon to happen. Well it did. Just
a few months later in September, Fox finally gave in an announced that Deadpool
was finally on its way.
We know that studios
don't usually care much for fans outcry, at least not enough to green light a
film, but recently Reynolds, who together with director Tim Miller has been
championing for years for the film to get made, went on Twitter to thank fans
not only for their support but also for putting pressure on Fox to get the film
made.
Also on his Twitter
account Reynolds seem to confirm that Ed Skrein, who was rumored to be up for a
role alongside T.J. Miller, has been cast.
People keep thanking me for getting Deadpool made. I didn't get it made. YOU did. The internet put Fox in a hammerlock death-grip. #sayuncle
