Since
reprising his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past, acclaimed theater,
television, and film actor, Patrick Stewart has shy away from the spotlight
that such projects bring, and chose instead to pursue smaller, and more
character driven projects.
The
actor recently chatted with the Oregon Live about the indie comedy/drama Match,
and the upcoming thriller Green Room, and comedy Stuck. By the end of the
interview the inevitable questions about his future on the X-Men franchise creeped
in and the actor reiterated that probably won't reprise his role in X-Men:
Apocalypse.
"Yes,
I understand that it seems to be very unlikely that I will be in the next
"X-Men" movie, which is almost getting ready to start shooting in
Montreal."
However,
the actor did spill the beans on his co-star Ian McKellen, and seemingly
confirmed his participation in the project. The time-travel equations evade me
now, so I don't quite understand how McKellen will reprise his role given that
the new film is set in the 80's and focuses on the First Class cast, but…Stewart
also seems to know a thing or two about the sequel to the 2013 Wolverine
standalone movie.
"[LAUGHS]
But Magneto, Ian McKellen, is certainly going to be in it. And what I'm very
excited about is that we have been talking about a Wolverine movie, which would
team Hugh Jackman and myself together. Wolverine and Professor Xavier. That
would be a very different sort of "X-Men" from the four movies that
I've already done."
What
do you think?
