Last week screenwriter Gary
Whitta announced that with his draft of director Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spin-off
done, he would start working in adapting Mark Millar's Starlight into the big
screen. A couple of days have passed and /Film is now claiming that X-Men: Days
of Future Past scribe Simon Kinberg is all set to replace Whitta. As always
take it with a grain of salt, but Kinberg is a very good choice because of his
deep tie to the franchise. Kinberg is the producer of the Star Wars Rebels animated
series, wrote a couple of episodes, and is a consultant on J.J. Abrams The
Force Awakens.
Now there is only one or two
problems that I see might hinder the odds of him saying yes, and they are called Fantastic Four reboot, X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, and Gambit. Josh Trank's FF
is months away of coming out, which means promotion, promotion, promotion for
Kinberg who is the screenwriter, and producer. Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of
Future Past is getting ready to start production so has the writer and producer he
might have to be on call. Deadpool and Gambit already have release dates
schedule and has a producer on both he might have his hands filled with their development.
But hey! he might be able to juggle
all that and still write, re-write one Star Wars standalone film, which is
scheduled to hit theaters on December 16, 2016.
What do you think?
