After some trouble finding a home, Snake Plissken 2.0
is finally moving forward. According to Deadline Fox has won the rights for the
remake of Escape From New York, which at this point doesn't have a director or
star attached to it, however it seems that John Carpenter will be an executive
producer on the film, and will "exert creative influence" over it.
The last time I heard
anything from the remake Charlie Hunnam was the frontrunner to replace Kurt
Russell as Plissken, and producer Joel Silver was envisioning a trilogy. Well
neither are now attached to the project so as of now the plans for the property
are unknown. Andrew Rona and Alex Heineman from The Picture Company have
taken over the production duties.
What do you think?
