In a
recent interview 28 Days Later and Dredd screenwriter Alex Garland revealed
that he and director David Boyle, who directed 28 Days Later have been
exploring ideas for a 28 Months Later film.
“We’ve
just started talking about it seriously,” said Garland. “We’ve got an idea.
Danny [Boyle] and [producer] Andrew [Macdonald] and I have been having quite
serious conversations about it so it is a possibility. It’s complicated.
There’s a whole bunch of reasons why it’s complicated, which are boring so I
won’t go into, but there’s a possibility.”
The
original film focused on a man who wakes from a four-week coma and finds London
overrun by Zombies. The second film, 28 Weeks Later is set six months after the
first film, and deals with Europe quarantining England, and the US help to take
it back, until of course everything goes wrong. I'm extrapolating and 28 Months
Later should be about zombies attacking humanity's last "free" city, or
something along those lines.
Garland
also said that he will most likely not write the script, but act as an
executive producer.
