Although not yet confirmed, reports say that Roberto Orci won't be helming
the third entry in the Star Trek cinematic reboot, which would have been the
producer/writer directorial debut.
My sources tell me that the script Orci was working on saw the Enterprise, the Vulcans and a new alien race competing to get
a time travel device. The Vulcans want to go back and stop the destruction of
their planet, and the time travel schtick is what would allow Chris Pine and
William Shatner to share the screen. - Devin Faraci
Faraci adds that the script
by Orci, Patrick McKay and JD Payne, which was completed back in August, will
be redone.
I'm hearing the TREK 3 script is dumped, which I'm assuming means McKay and Payne are out as well. Best of luck to those guys, if so.

The same report that says that Orci won't be helming Star Trek 3 also says
that Edgar Wright is among a list of directors being eyed to helm the threequel.
I love Edgar Wright's movies, but it seems like odd choice. He has such a
particular style that I'm not sure it would fit into what has already been done.
However, I wouldn't mind seeing it.
