Jonathan Liebesman's reboot of
the much beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flopped critically but
capitalized on the nostalgia factor making nearly $500 million worldwide. At
the time the director seemed enthusiastic about the future of the franchise, and
had all these ideas for it, however now it looks like Paramount has decided
that perhaps a new vision for the follow-up is what is best so they have reportedly
set their eyes on Earth to Echo director David Green to take over Liebesman.
It's unclear why the change,
but it seems that the studio believes that Green's kid-orientated Earth to Echo
vision is what the new franchise needs as it appears that the target audience
for the TMNT is very young.
In a recent interview
producers Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form revealed that some fan favorites
characters are set to mae their live-action debut in the next movie.
“We can say that Bebop and
Rocksteady are in the film, and Casey Jones is a character that we love and
we’re trying to fit him in as well”
Bebop and Rocksteady were
actually supposed to appear in the first film of the new franchise with concept
art actually being drawn but for some reason Liebesman decided to not use them.
The producers also confirmed that Megan Fox (April O'Neal), Will Arnett (Vernon
Fenwick), and the Shredder are poised to return.
What do you think?
