In a recent interview The
Flash executive producer, Greg Berlanti revealed a few things about the future
of the show and character, like his relationship with Iris, Grodd, new costume,
more special abilities, and more.
First things first, Berlanti
revealed that Barry will either tell Iris that he loves her or reveal his
secret identity in order to save their relationship. Meaning it is a double
edge sword, either put Iris in jeopardy and risk angering Joe by revealing his
secret identity to her or in case she corresponds to his feelings having his
deception escalate even further.
Berlanti then compared Grodd's
presence in The Flash to Slade's in the first season of Arrow, adding that they
will be dealing with him this year, however he points out that Grodd's presence
will be limited to all the technology they can muster to make him look real.
In
regards to the Scarlet Speedster's other powers that we have yet to witness,
Berlanti says that "he has tons. Definitely. We’re holding back on some
big ones still. He famously can phase through things. We haven’t seen him do
that yet", adding that they will deal with the long rumored time travel
episode in the near future.
"That is the one
that we deal with directly in the winter. We, obviously, hint at it from the
pilot episode. That is a big — “theme” is the wrong word for it — but
that is a big part of the DNA of who The Flash was, so we do deal with that."
It probably won't be
direct adaptation of the Flashpoint has most of the key elements are missing,
but it will still be fascinating to see how much of an impact is stay in the
past will alter his present. Then again, it might not be based on the comic
arc.
As for the new suit, it doesn't seem he will have one,
as Berlanti says that they have always been tinkering with it adding that fans "are waiting to see when it’s going to be a white
emblem versus a red."
Finally, the executive producer
confirms that they have begun talking about doing more crossovers in the second
part of the season.
