It looks like the wind is
pushing Academy Award winning actor, Jared Leto away from Marvel and into DC.
The actor, who was first rumored to be on Marvel's radar to play Doctor Strange
is now rumored to be circling the Joker role in director David Ayer's Suicide
Squad.
According to The Wrap, Ryan
Gosling was originally up for the role but was "unwilling to sign a deal with
options for multiple movies". Furthermore, it seems as if the role
wasn't in the original draft of Suicide Squad, but Ayer is said to be doing
some revisions and will include him in it.
The Hollywood Reporter also
picked up on the story and now reveals an interview done yesterday with the
actor, who says;
"I do [have my eye on one
project]. I am excited about what's happening," he told THR. "There
are incredible opportunities and I'm very grateful for them. I'm looking
forward to making films again now that the tour is wrapping up. It's going
to be an exciting 2015."
When pressed about what he meant, Leto said that;
"I've sworn to keep my mouth shut but I think
that very shortly there will be something to talk about, that's for sure."
Tom Hardy, Will Smith, and Margot Robbie are still in
various stages of negotiations to star in the August 5, 2016 release, while
Jesse Eisenberg is definitely going to reprise his Lex Luthor role from batman
v Superman.
What do you think of Leto as the Clown Prince of Crime?
