Yes I know
we've been here before, but what can I say every time a new information, or
rumor about your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man leaving the clutch of Sony
and swinging back to Marvel pops up I get chills down my spine, and this one is one of
those.
Remember yesterday
when news broke out that Marvel was bringing their current run of the Fantastic
Four to an early end because of some cooperate disagreement with Fox and their
rights to certain characters, well it seems that the studio pulled another trick
like that but this time it worked.
According
to HitFix, Marvel, which holds the rights to all Spider-Man merchandising, is
currently working out a deal with Sony focused on their "current" superhero
flag, Spider-Man.
"While
I can't get the confirmations I need to verify the story, I'm hearing that
there are some very cool "Spider-Man" plans being discussed that
would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening
up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow
fandom's minds. Will it work out? I don't know. I would love to be able to
state for sure that it's happening. What seems clear from what I've heard is
that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they
can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means
the world gets bigger again."
As always
take it with a grain of salt but if true and they somehow co-produce,
co-develop, co-share, co-whatever Spider-Man it would mean that maybe, just
maybe Spidey could travel to the MCU and join or star in one of the future
Avengers movies.
Sony's
last Spider-Man attempt was just (for me at least) that, an attempt and a
poorly one at that. The film was received with mixed reviews, and while making $709
million worldwide is not that bad, it was the less profitable of all the
Spider-Man movies.
What do
you think? True/False? Would you like to see Spidey in the MCU?
