Box Office Weekend: 03/05 October - Almost A Tie For First Place; Guardians Hanging & More

Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson's star power alone don't seem to be able hold No Good Deed, which went from first to tenth in just four weeks, as oppose to Guardians of the Galaxy, which after ten weeks currently resides in ninth followed by Dolphin Tale 2 in eighth and This Is Where I Leave You in seventh. Coming up in sixth is a new opening, director Vic Armstrong's PG-13 thriller Left Behind, starring Nicholas Cage, Lea Thompson, and Chad Michael Murray. The middle of the table holds Wes Ball's adaptation of James Dashner's young adult novel, The Maze Runner, followed by Laika's new stop-motion animation, The Boxtrolls.

Director Antoine Fuqua brings the eighties back with The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington as Robert McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri, he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall's desire for justice is re-awakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

The Equalizer also stars Marton Csokas, Chloe Grace Moretz, David Harbour, Bill Pullman, Haley Bennett, and Melissa Leo.

The first and second place was decided thanks to the photo-finish!

The Conjuring spin-off, Annabelle takes the second spot. Directed by John R. Leonetti, and starring Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Tony Amendola, Alfre Woodard, Kerry O'Malley, Brian Howe, Eric Ladin, and Ivar Brogger, the horror film follows A pigtailed doll possessed by a demon threatens a young couple with a newborn baby.

And in first is David Fincher's adaptation of Gillian Flynn's New York Times bestseller book, Gone Girl starring Benn Affleck as the lead suspect of his wife (Rosamund Pike) disappearance on their fifth wedding anniversary.

The heavy drama also stars Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Scoot McNairy, Missi Pyle, Casey Wilson, Emily Ratajkowski and Neil Patrick Harris.
