It looks like even
though the events of the upcoming Star Wars Rebels show take place years before
those of director J.J. Abrams upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII film, a good
portion of the creative elements (designs, characters, locations, etc…) will be
shared between both.
This isn't exactly
a surprise since Disney and Lucasfilm have both announced a few months ago that
from this moment on everything Star Wars related will be in canon.
Speaking to EW, Rebels
executive producer, and Episode VII creative consultant, Simon Kinberg revealed
that both projects are in-sync with each other.
“There is absolutely communication and
integration between the different stories. We are very aware of what they’re
doing in VII, and we also have to click into place with Episode IV.” There are
characters, vehicles, imagery that are introduced in the show before we’ve ever
seen them in the movies, possibly including VII.”
So does this
mean that we could see younger versions of characters from Episode VII in
Rebels, and vice-versa? Maybe Luke, Leia, and Han could make an appearance in
Rebels?
Star Wars Rebels
stars Jason Isaacs, Freddie Prince Jr., Tiya Sircar, Billy Dee Williams,
Steve Blum, Taylor Gray, Vanessa Marshall, and David Oyelowo.
Star Wars Rebels
will premiere on October 3 as an one hour special on the Disney
Channel and then as a regular series on Disney XD channels around the World.
