As
expected Michael Fassbender will play both leads in the big screen
adaptation of the Assassin's Creed video game. Like in the game,
Fassbender will play two different characters, one when he's in the
Animus (a machine that reads his genetic memory and allow him to
become an Assassin in the past), and another when he's not.
His
pre-Animus role will be called Michael Lynch, “a death row inmate
who becomes a pawn in the Assassin's-Templar war”. After going
through the Animus machine, he becomes Aguilar de Agarorobo, an
assassin during the Spanish Inquisition.
Lynch
will be subject to tests made by a researcher named Joseph, a
“baddie”, but is helped by an assassin called Lara, who like him
will also be using the Animus and be “sent back in time”.
The
present day villain will be Alan Rikkin, the CEO of Abstergo, the
evil Templar corporation that discovers and puts together the Animus.
Apparently Rikkin will make himself be present by voice and not
physically.
The
villain during the Inquisition portion of the story will be called Tomas
de Torquemada, who previously appeared in the Assassin's Creed 2:
Discovery game.
As
always take this with a grain of salt as the last we heard, the
script was still in development.
In
the video game the main playable character change between the Animus,
and the “present”, so it will be interesting to see if Fassbender
will play both characters, or just one. Plus what do you think of him
(if true) having a Spanish accent?
Assassin's
Creed opens on August 7, 2015.
