Writer/director Shane Black (Iron Man 3) has been trying
for a number of years to put together an adaptation of the classic pulp hero,
Doc Savage. The big screen adaptation hasn't come to fruition yet, mainly
because of budget issues, but now it seems that the project has taken a step
forward.
According to THR, Black has met with Chris Hemsworth,
about the lead in the film.
Black
is also very actively developing Doc Savage, the adaptation of the 1930s pulp hero for Sony. He recently met with Chris
Hemsworth for the title role, but it’s unclear when that project would shoot
since it’s still grappling with budgetary issues. Sony, however, does consider Savage one of its priorities.
Maybe Mr. Black's $1,215,439,994 success story, aka
Iron Man 3 will give him some leeway over at Sony to do Doc.
