According to Variety Oscar-nominated screenwriter Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things) has been tapped to write the
sequel to Paramount's World War Z, starring Brad Pitt, who is expected to
return. Director J.A. Bayona is attached to helm the sequel.
The first film was an adaptation
of Max Brooks' popular novel, but was received with less than stellar reviews. Despite
being in many people top worst movies of 2013, World War Z managed to gross
more than $540 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing movies
of Brad Pitt's career.
Most recently, Knight directed
Tom Hardy in the critically acclaimed Locke.
