We are just a few hours away of the 86th Academy
Awards, which are going to be held Dolby Theater at Hollywood & Highland
Center, and fans of the event can’t wait to see their favorite stars in the wet
t-shirt contest that is called the red carpet. Just joking.
This year we have the clash between Alfonso Cuarón’s
Gravity and Steve McQueen’s 12 Years a Slave for best picture and directing.
This seems to be Cate Blanchett’s year as she has won pretty much all there is
to win, so no surprises there for best actress I think. I would like to say
that Matthew McConaughey has best actor in the bag but Leonardo DiCaprio and
Chiwetel Ejiofor are strong contenders. We have Miss. Nyong’o vs. Miss.
Lawrence for best supporting actress. As for best supporting actor I believe
Mr. Leto will add the Oscar to the other awards that he has won for his great
work in Dallas Buyers Club.
Fortunately not everything is set in stone and there
are always surprises so make sure to return to this post adress as we will be
posting the winners as they come out.
This year's Oscars theme is heroes, so after the Best
Actor in a Supporting Role winner, the Academy showed a montage of heroes in
animation, like Dumbo and Mr. Incredible. After the montage we had the first
music number, Happy from Despicable Me 2 with music and lyric by Pharrell
Williams.
The second hero montage came from the live action side
of film, and featured Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln, Will Smith as Mohammed Ali,
Jessica Chastain as Maya in Zero Dark Thirty, Mel Gibson in Braveheart or Peter
O’Tool in Lawrence of Arabia.
The second music moment came from Karen O performing
The Moon Song from Spike Jonze’s Her.
The third musical moment from the night came from U2
with the song Ordinary Love from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom.
Bill Murray went on stage with Amy Adams to present
Best Cinematography and made a shout out to Harold Ramis, who passed away last
week.
Presented by Whoopi Goldberg, singer Pink gave a
special performance in honor of Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz.
Chris Evans announced another tribute to heroes, from
Henry Cavill in Man of Steel, Harry Potter, The Avengers, Jacky Chan, James
Bond, Terminator, X-Men to Star Wars.
Actress Glenn Close presented the In Memoriam,
followed by a special performance by Bette Midler.
Ellen announces that thanks to the selfie (bellow),
they crashed Twitter.
The fourth musical moment of the night came from
Disney's musical already award winning animated movie, Frozen.
