The cast for the upcoming Ant-Man directed by Edgar Wright is starting to get composed. Actor Paul Rudd was the first choice to play the lead as Scott Lang the modern Ant-Man, then it was announced that Michael Douglas was going to play the original Ant-Man, Hank Pym, after that some rumors surfaced that actor Michael Pena was in talks to join the film and now according to Variety actress Evangeline Lilly, whom we recently saw playing Tauriel in Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and will see reprising her role in The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is in early talks to play a female lead in the this new Marvel pic.
Plot details regarding Ant-Man are being kept under
wraps, but some things have intentionally been revealed, like the Hank
Pym/Scott Lang arc from the source material, but it seems that Wright is going
the mix things up and introduce an original character, since according to
Variety Lilly will play Pym’s daughter and Lang’s love interest.
At this time this is just hearsay so don’t take it for
grant, but this new character could act as the bridge between Pym, the creator
of the Ant-Man suit and Scott Lang the one that steals it and ultimately ends
up being the hero.
