Who grew up in the 1980’s and 90’s probably read author’s Alvin Schwartz’s spooky anthology Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, which was divided over three installments. The books brought to life a multitude of creepy folklore and urban legends, with some humor along the way. The creepiness and horror were emphasizing by the black and white illustrations of artist Stephen Gammell.
Saw IV-VII writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton
pitched the idea of a movie adaptation to CBS, who saw potential quickly greenlit
the project, which already has producers and executive producers and is now
waiting for both writers to finish the screenplay so they could start searching
for a director to tackle the supernatural horror film.
Per Deadline the film will focus on “a group of
outcast kids who stand up to their fears to save their town when nightmares
come to life.” The premise looks similar to that of the upcoming Goosbumps
movie, where Jack Black will play a troubled novelist whose hellish creations
come to life.
