Temple Run To The Big Screen

Now days film adaptations of videogames are usually “easier” to achieve thanks to the rich storylines and cinematic scripts that developers and studios bring to each and every single game out there, for example the Mass Effect trilogy, Assassins Creed, The Last of Us or Bioshock, however not every game comes with such a developed story, particularly those for the mobile platform, who are throwbacks to a bygone era where video games where simply move forward and press a key in the keyboard to slash the opponent in front of you in order to get the crystal, or whatever was the reward for that particular level. But despite this, videogames in the mobile market are currently hot and for that reason movie studios are now getting their hands on some properties and developing them to feature films. One such case is Temple Run, which is currently being negotiated for a future film adaptation.

Temple Run was released in 2011 by Imangi Studios and was an instant hit, selling millions on the mobile market, which is why Harry Potter producer David Heyman is currently in negotiations to bring the Indiana Jones type videogame to the big screen for Warner Bros.

The game was so successful that Disney commissioned two spin-off games Temple Run: Brave and Temple Run: Oz to help sell their own movies.

At this point it’s unknown if there is already someone writing a draft for the project, but the lack of story in the game will make this one tough to beat.
