Of
all the things to film this one I wasn't expecting. It seems that
producers Allen J. Schawlb and Bob Farnsworth are already in the
casting phase for Frank Capra's classic 1946 film, It's a Wonderful
Life.
The original movies stars James Stewart, Donna Reed, Lionel Barrymore, Thomas Mitchell, Henry Travers, Beulah Bondi, Jimmy Hawkins and Carol Coombs.
Apparently the story will center on George Bailey's (Stewart) grandson being visited by an angel. Actress Karolyn Grimes, who played Stewart's daughter in the film, will now play the angel. Jimmy Hawkins and Carol Coombs are also being eyed to return to their respective roles in the sequel.
According to Variety, the budget is between $25 million and $35 million and is expected to start shooting some time next year in Louisiana. If producers are unafraid to get their hands on such classic films like this one and make a sequel, should we expect a Casablanca reboot also?
