With
The Zero Theorem out of the way, news are that director Terry Gilliam
is trying once again to bring the adaptation of Miguel Cervantes' Don
Quixote to the big screen in a film called The Man Who Killed Don
Quixote.
At
the Camerimage Festival of the Art of Cinematography in Bydgoszcz,
Poland, the director who was there for the screening of The Zero
Theorem talked to CS about what he will be doing next.
“"I'm
going to try to do 'Don Quixote' again," Gilliam responded when
asked about what he's working on now. "I think this is the
seventh time. Lucky seven, maybe. We'll see if it happens. This is
kind of my default position, going back to that. I actually just want
to make it and get rid of it. Get it out of my life."”
The
movie has been in development since 2000 with Jean Rochefort as
Quixote and Johnny Depp as Sancho Panza, but unfortunately there were
some problems and everything came to a alt. In August the director
was almost ready to call it quits but something must have changed.
“"I
don't know if it will be good or bad," Gilliam now says with a
smile. "The dangerous thing is that a lot of people are waiting
for it, so I can disappoint a lot of people maybe."”
At this point there are no details on the project so it's unclear if any of the original cast will come back or if the entire project will be restarted from scratch.
