Jason Vorhees lives again in the upcoming thirteenth installment in the popular horror movie franchise that is Friday the 13th. Earlier this year Paramount Pictures picked up the rights for the franchise in exchange for Warner Bros. getting in on Christopher Nolan’s sci-fi film, Interstellar. Paramount was quick in developing the new Friday the 13th installment and is now announcing that the film will open on March 13, 2015.
As of late the R-rated horror films have been produced
on micro-budgets and for the most part have been very well received, for example
the 2010 Paranormal Activity 2 had a budget of about $3 million and gross $178
million, so we can expect the same for this new installment.
And speaking of Paranormal Activity, there is a chance
that Paramount will “borrow” the found footage formula and incorporate it in
the reboot, or at least that’s the word of STYD’s Ryan Turek, who tweeted this
possibility earlier this fall.

Paramount sets FRIDAY THE 13th for March 13, 2015. Not
a sequel to the reboot, mind you, another reboot entirely.
So the 13th installment of Friday the 13th
will open on the 13 of March, which is a Friday, I can almost envisioned the
marketing campaign.
