With
the Marvel Cinematic Universe expanding and other comic book characters and
titles coming to the big screen, many studios are trying to get in the superhero
madness and cash in.
Recent
reports confirm that superhero team X-Force is also coming to the big screen, apparently
20th Century Fox was searching for other properties and decided to
go with X-Force. Rob Liefeld, the creator of the comic says in a tweet that he
already knew about the choice of making a film out of his creation since March,
but what is more surprising is that the project is already in the early stages
of development, and that apparently they already have chosen the director to
helm the film, Jeff Wadlow from Kick-Ass 2.
According
to BC, Fox is planning to announce the expansion at Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days
of Future Past panel at Comic-Con, on Saturday, July 20th from 4:15 –
5:45 pm. So if they are going to announce the film (X-Force) this will be the
best venue to do so, not only because of the attendance at Comic-Con but also
because there might be a hidden gem in X-Men: Days of Future Past. What do I mean?
Well the main character in X-Force, the leader is Cable and he is from the
future, see where I’m going at? Besides he is the son of Cyclops and a cloned
Jean Grey, but we better forget about that since Marvel films have an appalling
track record regarding connections between the characters.
Nonetheless
we mustn’t take these things at face value because these types of films are
always crashing and burning, for instance Magneto solo film, Lobo, Deadpool, Black
Panther, Iron Fist, etc.. So we just have to wait and see if any more news come out before Comic-Con and if not then we just need to be at the panel to see if this project is really happening.
