We
all know that J.J. Abrams movies are incredibly secretive, we don’t even know
if the character played by the British actor Benedict Cumberbatch in the
upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness, is Khan or not. But we are not here to talk
about Star Trek we are here to talk about Star Wars.
The
eight time Oscar nominated producer Kathleen Kennedy is a plus on an already exciting
and anticipated project. The producer began her illustrious career has an
associate on Steven Spielberg’s 1941 and Raider of the Lost Ark, and never stop
outdoing herself in the film industry (see IMDB page). According to some
reports she spent more than a month trying to convince J.J. Abrams to helm the
project, just to show how dedicated she is.
Now,
about Star Wars. Is it going to be has secretive has we are expecting it to be?.
Well on a recent interview Kathleen Kennedy talked about the impossibility of
trying to prevent something’s of ending up on the web and the fact that it’s
important for them to have fans interested in the whole process of the movie.
She also talked about the one particular thing that is in a lot of fans minds,
which is the fact that J.J. Abrams has directed the new Star Trek films and is
now shifting to the competition.
This
is what she said about that:
“I
think the whole issue of confidentiality is gonna be fascinating as we move
into making the movie. If we’re shooting anything outside, it’s almost
impossible to not have things end up on the Internet. So my feeling is, you
need to embrace that, especially with the fans around something like Star Wars.
You need to recognize they’re important to the process and acknowledge there
are things you’re gonna want to make sure they get to know. So I think that’s
something we’re going to monitor, pay attention to and think differently about.”
And
to clarify the situation regarding Star Trek and Star Wars, this is what J.J.
Abrams had to say in an interview to Playboy.
“As
with anything, because these are very different worlds, they shouldn’t feel the
same aesthetically. They can’t. You’re right. But again, I don’t apply
aesthetics first and fit a movie into that aesthetic. If I had come into Star
Trek with those
eyes, I would probably have been paralyzed. The advantage here is that we still
have George Lucas with us to go to and ask questions and get his feedback on
things, which I certainly will do. With Star Trek it
was harder because I wasn’t a Star Trek fan;
I didn’t have the same emotional feeling, and I didn’t have Gene Roddenberry to
go to. But I came to understand the world of Star Trek, and I
appreciated what fans felt and believed about this universe and this
franchise.”
So far only Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and
Carrie Fisher were officially cast in their respective roles, but there are rumors
that Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian) and Anthony Daniels (C-3PO are going
to appear in the installment of the franchise.
