Movies at the Museum

The National Museum of American History of the Smithsonian Institute is displaying props from 30 Hollywood movies from 1942 to 2005. The objects were donated to the museum by Warner Bros. president Barry Meyer, whitch among other objects were the costume that Christopher Reeve wore on  Superman 3, George Clooney mask from Batman & Robin and Tim Burton's puppets from Corpse Bride. These objects are now joined to other iconic props like Judy Garland Ruby Shoes from the Wizard of Oz or the Kermit the Frog puppet from the Muppets. Donations apart, the Hollywood studio also lend the pants that Bruce Lee wore on Enter the Dragon and some Buggs Bunny animation cells.
When asked about the donation, John Gray the director of the museum said:

"Films are an integral part of this culture and of our daily lives, shaping how we perceive ourselves as Americans,"

"The legacy of Warner Bros. is an important part of American history and these objects help us to tell that story."
