BAFTA nominated actor Timothy Spall has boarded the first episode of the
upcoming Amazon sci-fi anthology series Electric Dreams: The World of Philip
K. Dick.
The 10-episode miniseries produce by Ronald D. Moore ("Battlestar Galactica") and
Bryan Cranston who is also set to appear.
Each episode of the anthology series will be a self-contained
drama adapted and contemporized for the modern global audience by a creative
team of British and American writers. The series will both illustrate Philip K.
Dick’s prophetic vision and celebrate the enduring appeal of the prized sci-fi
novelist’s works, which include The Man in the High Castle, A Scanner Darkly,
and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the novel in which Ridley Scott's Blade Runner is based on.
Titled The Commuter, the episode sees
Spall playing a humble train station employee who notices that a number of daily
commuters are taking the train to a town that shouldn’t exist.
The episode also stars Hayley Squires
("I, Daniel Blake"), Tuppence Middleton ("The Imitation Game"),
Anne Reid ("Hot Fuzz"), Rebbeca Manley ("This is England"),
and Tom Brooke ("Sherlock").
Tom Harper ("Peaky Blinders")
will direct the episode from a script based on a short story by Dick and penned
by Jack Thorne ("Harry Potter and the Cursed Child").
