Paramount Pictures has released a part-clip-part-television-promo
for their upcoming loose adaptation
of Masamune Shirow's iconic sci-fi manga series Ghost in the Shell.
Directed by Rupert Sanders ("Snow White and the Huntsman"), the film
stars Scarlett Johansson as the Major, a one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who
leads the elite task force Section 9 in their efforts to stop the most
dangerous cyber criminals and extremist.
Ghost in the Shell also stars Michael Pitt, Juliette
Binoche, Michael Wincott, Takeshi Kitano, Pilou Asbæk, Rila Fukushima, Chin
Han, and Chris Obi.
From a script by Jonathan Herman ("Straight Outta
Compton") and Jamie Moss ("Street Kings"), Ghost in the Shell
opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.
Based on the internationally-acclaimed sci-fi
property, Ghost In The Shell follows the Major (Scarlett Johansson), a special
ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section
9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremist, Section 9 is
faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotics'
advancements in cyber technology.
