Marvel
Studios has released a quick featurette for Doctor Strange, where studio head
Kevin Feige, director Scott Derrickson, and star Benedict Cumberbatch, explain
how they didn't pull any punches on
bringing Steve Ditko's trippy 1860s art to big screen.
Besides
the talking heads, the featurette, titled Universes Within, also provides us
with plenty of incredibly new footage.
Marvel's Doctor Strange centers on a talented neurosurgeon called Stephen Strange
who, after a tragic car accident, must put his ego aside and learn the secrets
of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions. Based in New York
City’s Greenwich Village, Doctor Strange must act as an intermediary between
the real world and what lies beyond, utilizing a vast array of metaphysical
abilities and artifacts to protect the Marvel cinematic universe.
Opening in theaters on November 4, Marvel's Doctor Strange also
stars Mads Mikkelsen, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tilda Swinton, Michael
Stuhlbarg, Amy Landecker, Benjamin Bratt, and Scott Adkins.
From Marvel comes “Doctor Strange,” the story of
world-famous neurosurgeon Dr. Stephen Strange whose life changes forever after
a horrific car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional
medicine fails him, he is forced to look for healing, and hope, in an unlikely
place—a mysterious enclave known as Kamar-Taj. He quickly learns that this is
not just a center for healing but also the front line of a battle against
unseen dark forces bent on destroying our reality. Before long Strange—armed
with newly acquired magical powers—is forced to choose whether to return to his
life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the
most powerful sorcerer in existence. Join Strange on his dangerous, mystifying,
and totally mind-bending journey when Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” opens in U.S.
theaters on November 4, 2016.
