Marvel Studios has cast
Person of Interest actor Winston Duke to play the villain M'Baku in Ryan
Coogler's ("Creed") upcoming Black Panther feature film.
At one time one of
Wakanda's greatest warriors, M'Baku was exiled from the kingdom after trying to
usurp the throne from T'Challa, aka the Black Panther. His powers derived after performing a sacred ritual where he killed a white gorilla, bathing in his
blood and eating his flesh, which mystically bestowed M'Baku with super
strength, agility, and stamina. Now calling himself Man-Ape, the antagonist has
tried several times to kill/dethrone/exile T'Challa and abolish technology in Wakanda.
Duke joins Chadwick
Boseman as T'Challa, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Lupita Nyong'o as Nakia, and Michael
B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger.
Marvel debuted Boseman
as Black Panther in this year's Captain America: Civil War, before his solo
outing on February 16, 2018.
