It
looks like Warner Bros. is studying the possibility of adding a Suicide Squad
spinoff movie starring Margot Robbie to their slate of movies based on DC Comics
properties.
Robbie
who is attached to reprise her role as Harley Quinn in the untitled spinoff is
also producing.
According
to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is not a Harley Quinn standalone project
but an ensemble piece possibly featuring several of DC's female heroes and villains such
as Batgirl or the Birds of Prey team, which includes Black Canary, Huntress,
Catwoman, Big Barda, Hawkgirl, and Katana, who actress Karen Fukuhara is
playing in Suicide Squad opposite Robbie.
According
to several sources, Robbie was the one that brought the project to Warner's. It
seems that in preparation for her role in David Ayer's Suicide Squad, the
actress delved deep into DC Comics lore and fell in love with its female
characters. Robbie even tapped a female writer to help develop the project.
Suicide
Squad opens in theaters on August 5.
