Jon Favreau's The Jungle
Book doesn't come out until the end of the week but Disney is already putting
their ducks in a row for the sequel.
Favreau and
screenwriter Justin Marks have entered negotiations with the House of Mouse to
return for the follow-up, which Favreau is expected to produce alongside
Brigham Taylor.
Shot entirely on a
sound stage, The Jungle Book is an epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been
raised by a family of wolves.
Disney's strategy of
reimagining their animated classics into live-action films seems to be working
rather successfully. The first big break for the studio in this department came in 2010 with Alice in Wonderland, which Disney quickly followed with Maleficent, and Cinderella. Besides The Jungle
Book, Disney also has Pete's Dragon, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and
Beauty and the Beast, all coming up this and next year.
