Three-time Oscar nominee Sylvester
Stallone is in the process of signing on to star in Antoine Fuqua's upcoming TV
adaptation of Mario Puzo's Omerta, the final book in Puzo's mafia drama trilogy
that began with The Godfather and The Last Don. Stallone is set to play the head
of a familial crime organization at the center of the story.
No network is currently attached to the project, but
one should not be too difficult to find given the names of all involved so far
- Puzo, Fuqua, and Stallone.
Omerta marks Stallone's first foray as a series regular into scripted TV
series, following the unscripted fitness competition titled S.T.R.O.N.G., of
which he is an executive producer, and The Contender, a boxing reality series he
co-hosted with Sugar Ray Leonard in 2005, both on NBC. The actor also has several guest credits on such TV shows as Kojak and Las Vegas.
Stallone has a couple of projects where he stars coming
up. He is attached to star in Brad Furman's ("The Lincoln Lawyer")
crime drama biopic Scarpa, a CGI animation titled Animal Crackers with Emily
Blunt, Ian McKellen, and Danny DeVito, and James Gunn's Guardians of the
Galaxy, where he is rumored to perhaps be playing Star-Lord's (Chris Pratt)
father.
