Today at a Netflix two-day event in Paris that included some of the
streaming giant's most well-known shows like House of Cards or Unbreakable
Kimmy Schmidt, Daredevil star Charlie Cox took the stage to talk about the
second season of the Marvel superhero series, the possibility of a third one,
and the future of the Netflix/Marvel universe.
"We don't know
if there's going to be a season three," said the British actor. "I
certainly don't know."
But, he did reveal
that The Defenders - the Avengers-like series featuring Daredevil, Jessica
Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist - will begin production later this year.
"What we do know is at the end of this year we’re
going to be making The Defenders and, of course, Daredevil is very much
a part of that foursome," Cox said. "I have no idea
what the storyline is going to be for that show. I’m very excited to see how
those world’s combine… and interested to see tonally how those shows become
one."
A lot was left unresolved by the end of Daredevil's
second season, so the popular thinking is that in the absence of a third season,
they will be tackled in The Defenders, but…"in terms of wrapping up any
storylines, maybe they’ll do some of that in The Defenders. Or maybe they won’t,"
says Cox.
Between now and the time when The Defenders come out
to play, Netflix will have had the first season of Iron Fist and Luke Cage, as
well as the second season of Jessica Jones.
