The Cabin in the Woods and Dollhouse star Fran Kranz has signed on to play Pimli in Sony
Pictures upcoming big screen adaptation of The Dark Tower.
Based on Stephen King's series of novels, the film follows a haunting and solitary figure (Idris
Elba) who is on a mysterious quest to find the Dark Tower and save the desolate
land of Mid-World, all while fighting his nemesis the Man in Black (Matthew
McConaughey).
In the fantasy film, Pimli is the right-hand man to the Man
in Black, which is quite the departure for the character, who in the novels
works for the Crimson King and runs the Algul Siento prison.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel ("A Royal Affair"),
The Dark Tower also stars Abbey Lee ("Mad Max"), Jackie Earle Haley ("Watchmen"),
and newcomer Tom Taylor.
The Dark Tower opens in theaters on January 13, 2017.
