Yesterday Warner Bros. released a new trailer for David Yates (Harry Potter)
The Legend of Tarzan. Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs's literary creation from
1912, in this new telling of the story it has been years since the man once known
as Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the
jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord
Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side. Now, he has
been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament,
unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge,
masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those
behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.
We have captured some screenshots of the trailer for your better analysis,
and they include a look at Skarsgård as both the "wild" Tarzan and
the "gentrified" Lord Greystoke, Robbie as Jane Porter, Waltz as the
villainous (again!) Captain Rom, and Djimon Hounsou as Chief Mbonga.
Opening in theaters on July 1, The Legend of Tarzan also stars Djimon
Hounsou as Chief Mbonga, Samuel L. Jackson as George Washington Williams, John
Hurt as Professor Archimedes Q. Porter, Casper Crump as Captain Kerchover, and
Jim Broadbent in a yet undisclosed role.
