After years stuck in development hell, there is motion
once again on Lobo, a DC Comics character that Warner Bros. has been trying to get into the big screens for quite some time to no success.
According to The Wrap, Warner has turned to Wonder
Woman screenwriter Jason Fuchs to pen the project, indicating that they are
pleased with his work on director Patty Jenkins superhero movie starring Gal
Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, and Robin Wright.
The studio didn't comment, but according to insiders
close to the situation it seems that Fuchs will start from zero, ignoring
previous script and writing his own take on the iconic anti-hero.
Created by Keith Giffen and Roger Slifer in the early
'80s, Lobo is a virtually immortal alien mercenary and bounty hunter with
violent tendencies and whose powers also include super strength and speed, expert
in both armed and unarmed combat, great tracking abilities, he is omni-lingual,
and is able to self-regenerate.
Over the years there have been a few directors
attached to the project most noticeable Guy Ritchie in 2009, and Brad Peyton (San
Andreas) in 2012.
Fuchs is a
writer and an actor whose credits also include writing Ice Age: Continental
Drift (2012), Pan (2015), and lending in voice to such video games as Bully and
Grand Theft Auto IV. He also has a role in writer/director Damien Chazelle's
upcoming musical drama La La Land.
